Subject: Re: [fide-chess] MORE IMPORTANT ISSUE regarding BILL Goichberg as USCF ED
Ladies and Gentlemen;
Though I too must confess like Larry Parr a compulsion to defend Mr Goichberg for the mad hordes of demogogues on RGCP in that he is perhaps the biggest and best commercial chess tournament promoter in the US, there is another issue namely:
He would not be good for chess precisely for that reason and the following all across the USA there has been developing DEAD ZONES
(verified by highly reputable State Federation Executives) that Mr. Goichberg's life of tournament directing in the prime regional areas of the US will not cure as in fact they may have been they cause of such developments that was agravated by the advent of technology in the form of PCs the INTERNET and LONG DISTANCE CHESS PLAYING.
WHERE once chessplayers would appreciate the opportunity to get up and commute a couple hours or more to a
chess club or a tournament today there is no need for such labors and in fact may be seen as an impediment to playing chess as the commuter can perhaps play 2-3 hours in the time it would of taken to have commuted to a chess game.
Now I dont think internet chess is an answer in fact it is anti-social, psychologically harmful and demeaning, prone to fraud and cheating, intrusive into the private lives of the chess players, subject to abuse by over bearing faceless administrators and down right un sporting and inconsistent with chess players world wide.
A remedy for which I propose the organisation of a chess club in every town, village, hamlet, city state and country.
Mr Goichberg would say that as commercial there is no "real money" in organizing the boondocks thats why his tourneys are in Philly Vegas Chicago etc (even if its full of dumb Draneys)
What about
Even in areas like
Where is the Manhattan Chess Club where Bobby Fischer I believe first played in
Jude Acers is not Paul Morphy!
The Life and Chess of Paul Morphy
And where is the Brooklyn Chess Club
Frank Marshall
... In 1899 he won the championship of the Brooklyn Chess Club. He then set sail for
I jest not I merely get ambitious but of course the short term penny wise pound foolish policies of many in the USCF and FIDE may not be up to the tasks.
With best wishes

PS I CUT Larry Parr, Daren Dillinger, and wht's his name's text from this as I changed the focus completely and it was irrelvent from my perspective though specific the issue that Mr Goichberg benefited from favoritism was agreed to by me as it is a matter of record.
