Maybe organized chess in the USA should be organizationally member based and socially oriented throughout instead of always finance-centric and service oriented then maybe it will be self-sustaining as it will not have to satisfy the egotistical demands of capital and industry who think everything must be in their image since they pay for.

The capitalist response would be that if professional chess were self-sustaining economically, someone would be doing it.
Few are, so the brutal economic truth seems obvious.
