EXACTLY THE POINT I MADE IN THE OTHER THREAD ECJ
faux pas that chess is not self sustaining.... actually is very vibrant as a social activity
Where chess fails is when the chess dons and donnas try to bring in venture capital (interested in quick return to be compounded [as they just so happen to be cash poor - and I've had GMs offer me deals for cash and services - I don't blame them its just bad business]); and,
whereas relatively soon there after they then try to pay off the banks who want immediate returns on their investments as in the investment world ten years, or 5 years or even 2-3 years is considered a long term investment.
FIDE has been comparitively different from the USCF as it is due to its demographics spread worldwide more in need of balance, whereas the USCF is concentrated in most or less more middle class areas.
The USCF doesn't not really exist amongst working class lower income level chess players as it offers nothing to them but instead exists as a hustle/business trying to make money thru the means of smartass wise cracking "krackers" (who most likely would call police) who other wise might get they heads handed to them as they might not even be able to walk the streets unless they were packing.
How many USCF members would play in the hustler corners of Washington or Tomkins Square Parks as some call them snake pits?
I know dozens of chess spots with me being the only USCF member.

It just so happens USCF's really *** is intensely political and profit driven, while FIDE's has been comparatively free of such evils, oddly enough.

Actually, you'd find it completely impossible to prove this point.
