Subject: [VSO_Local_Group_York] Active Communities workshops
This is an initiative that has taken over from VSO's work on global education and seems to be working well. The Leeds group helped pilot it last year. To find out more look at the VSO web link. Unfortunately I haven't been able to make any of the workshop dates yet (including this one) but if anyone else is interested, available and would like to find out more about how we could get involved, please book yourself on this workshop ASAP.
Alison
Dear Alison,
As the key representative of VSO York we wanted to take this opportunity to personally invite you and any of your group members to an upcoming VSO Active Communities Workshop.
Active Communities Workshops are a great opportunity for you to learn more about what our team does, meet fellow VSO supporters and come up with exciting ideas to increase understanding of the global issues that matter most to you. These workshops will help you generate and develop ideas and will
equip you with the necessary skills to undertake effective development awareness activities.
Due to a couple of last minute cancellations we still have some places available this weekend, and thought we'd offer these to any interested VSO Groups who may not have heard about the workshop.
Community Action Workshop: Promote action on global issues in your community
Saturday 25 April 2009 - 10am (VSO are able to provide accommodation and catering on the 24th and 25th from 6pm)
Harborne Hall, Birmingham (Reimbursement of travel expenses <£30)
Further workshops will be held throughout the UK this year. See our Online Community pages http://community. vsointernational .org/ for more information on dates and locations.
Lastly, we always include Active Communities information in your newsletter. However, if you, or another elected group
member, would prefer to be directly contacted via e-mail, about all the exciting opportunities Active Communities can offer then do let us know.
For more information and a booking form call Hanna on 020 8780 7235 or email

We look forward to hearing from you,
Gaby, Hanna and Sharon
