The World Development Movement local group for Brighton & Hove.
The World Development Movement (WDM) is a UK based organisation that campaigns to tackle the root causes of poverty. We lobby decision makers to change the policies that keep people poor. We work alongside people in the developing world who are standing up to injustice. WDM has over 10,000 supporters and 60 local groups. For details go to www.wdm.org.uk
The Brighton and Hove WDM group is active in the local Trade Justice Movement and in the campaign against GATS (General Agreement on Trade in Services). We lobby MPs, run stalls, hold public meetings, do letter writing campaigns and media stunts.
Meetings are on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 8pm at the Brighton Peace and Environment Centre (BPEC), 39 - 41 Surrey St, opposite Brighton station. The first hour comprises a talk on a current political issue followed by discussion. The second hour involves planning current campaigns.
