Dear all,
Thank you all for keeping CIDA in touch with activities within Waltham Forest - sounds like there's some fantastic stuff going on. I just wanted to quickly reply to Franks earlier email re organisations like CIDA not providing free support to creatives in WF.
CIDA is a publicly funded organisation with the main core of our funding coming from the London boroughs of Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets. Due to this, we often have to locate the bulk of our programmes and activities geographically within these three boroughs as a contractual requirement of our funders, although we try at all times to allow our programmes to be open access, in some circumstances because of the above we are only able to offer specific services to creative within these areas.

However, many of our current projects are pan-London and our networking events and panel discussions are open to all. We would love to be able to deliver our programmes across London, but in order to be able to achieve this we need secure backing from the relevant regional agencies and funders and would be happy to look at ways we can achieve this with relevant local groups in Walthamstow.
Keep up the good work.

Hello Martin
I enjoyed the Short Film Budgeting workshop hosted by Rebecca Knapp last Thursday. It was very informative and was a great help to everyone who attended. Great turn out by the way.
Nice to see there were people outside of Waltham Forest present as well getting the benefits of a free workshop.
I think this point should also be made to CIDA, LONDON EASTand all the other organisation who state they are for the benefit of East London residents and should allow Waltham Forest residents the benefits of their free workshops. Come on you lot. Waltham Forest welcome non-wWaltham Forest talent so why shouldn't you widen your arms a little bit more and allow one of the TRUE East London boroughs as well as a borough who houses a great many filmmakers and Arts based individuals and organisation in the Greater London area, the benefits which should rightfully be open to them. Remember our post codes are E4, E10, E11, E17. Does the E stand for East or Exclusion. All I can do is moan about it and try to highlight the regional discrimination but you guys who provide the services can speak up and say, Waltham Forest should be included'.
This is my pet peev about the unfairness of inclusion for this part of London. I know it's also classed as being part of North London but forgive me if I'm wrong but London EAST allow an N1 postcoded area to be eligeble for their support as well as an Essex Post Code.Surely the body who allocated what is and isn't East London should be informed that N and IG doesn't mean East.
Waltham Forest is part of the 2012 Olympics and therefore part of East London. I can't be given an indentity with one body and not with all the others.
I'm only saying this now, I've been voicing my disatisfaction in the treatment of the Artistes and Ffilmmakers here for a while but only as a post script whenever I talk to people. This borough has a lot to offer and is being ignored and just being thrown crumbs compared to other regions and I'm getting frutrated and fed up with the overtly obvious exclusion of Waltham Forest. We deserve much, so much more than the pittance we currently get. People here try to be heard PROPERLY but I keep noticing a pass the buck attitude whenever it's mentioned. And it's always to someone who is always impossible to contact.
Well I'm stepping off my soapbox for now but will not shut up about it though.
Once again. Thanks to the organisers of the three Workshops. We should have more and a BIG THANKS to Martin O'Connor and Hamed Hussein for their hard and continued work in this borough.
Cheers
Frank
