Precious Williams
Trailblazers Episode 2, Black History Month Precious Williams
Precious Williams (writer) is the daughter of a Nigerian princess and
was `privately fostered', from the age of 3 months, by a white family
in West Sussex. Her first book, a memoir called Precious (Bloomsbury,
2008), lifts the lid on the private fostering phenomenon in the UK and
describes her abusive childhood and her subsequent journey to finding
her own identity. Born in the UK, Precious has also lived in New York
and Berlin, where she has worked as a journalist, writing teacher and
author. As well as writing articles that explore the human condition,
Precious specializes in celebrity interviews – she has interviewed
everybody from P Diddy to Colin Farrell and Naomi Campbell to Bryan
Ferry. Her work has been published all over the world, in publications
including the Sunday Times magazine, the New York Post, Korean Vogue,
the Daily Telegraph, Elle and Marie Claire. She has also been a staff
writer at the Independent on Sunday and New Nation and a Contributing
Editor at the Mail on Sunday, Elle and Cosmopolitan. Links:
