Mike,
The Whitley undercarriage folds very much like that of the C47 Dakota.
The main legs fold like a man's leg.
The "hip" joint is on the lower front edge of the wing's main box-spar.
The knee folds forwards
The rear wish-bone componant is also fixed at the top on the box-spar
lower edge and at it's other ends (there are two)- just above
the "ankle". This piece lets the thigh-shin move forward slightly
during the fold.
