RE: [Whitley_project] Whitley tail turret in Brussels

Hello Pascal,

I am planning a visit to Brussels in May, and  I would be pleased if you can give me the address of your Museum.

I am not sure whether I will have enough time to make a visit, but if I have the information, I will try to get there.

My father was a navigator in 10 Squadron RAF, flying Whitleys, from 1939 to 1941, and he is most interested in the Whitley project itself.

I know he would be pleased if I can find out any further information about the turret - and the rest of the aircraft.

He finished the war based in Vitry-en-Artois flying B25's for 226 Squadron RAF, and judging by his personal diary and the stories he has told our family, he was lucky to land in one piece on more than one occasion.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Tim Johnson

Subject: [Whitley_project] Whitley tail turret in Brussels

I am the projects officer of the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces
and of Military History in Brussels (www.klm-mra.be).

One of my main projects is creating a permanent exhibition about
the 20th century. The first part "1918 to1940" was inaugurated last
january.

In the next part "1941 to 1944", we deal with the subject "War in
the air".

Here we will include the complete tail turret (with the armament and
a quality display figure) of a British bomber which the people of
our Air and Space Section told me came from a Whitley!

I put some pictures of the turret we are overhauling in the photo
section.

Regards

Pascal Mathieu
