Yes, I have a book called "Aircraft crash log No4- Armstrong Whitworth
Whitley" compiled by Nicholas Roberts but now out of print. Published by
J. Jackman & co. Contains tables of all Whitley losses in all theatres,
but no illustrations other than the cover photos. I also have a small
boolet that was bought form Canada which I can't find now that has
several colour schemes and several photos.

There was, but been out of print for ages, however, rumour has it that
it might make a reappearance.........

This is true, the Whitley wing was very thick and housed some of the
bomb capacity (someone will come along in a minute and tell you the
details I'm sure). They were gravity operated (the doors are partly made
of wood, I've seen a few at crash sites, and were retracted by a fairly
crude bungee type arrangement, so I'm informed.
