Thank you Eric,

It's not my intent on forcing anyone, but given my relationship to the local community of pagans, I am anticipating at least one of them asking me. Your insights are very good.

James

Hi James,
I am Eric and I was born in Peru. I am not Q'ero, I am a mixed blood meztiso. But I know about some traditional things to do. Now, if I would be having a baby, mother and I would take baby to the of a Mountain/Hill if the baby is born under any Air/Wind sign once; to the River/Ocean if the baby is born under any Water sign; if the baby is born under either the Fire or Earth signs then have those elements present because I would be saying to the Creator and then to the Four Winds and Elements "Here is my baby who's name is so and so ..." and I would ask the Creator for blessings. I would do it once during Sunrise and once at Nightime so the star people hear my words as well. There is many traditional things for blessings, but also the spirit of my baby has chosen me and his/her mother for a reason that is between the Creator and the baby's soul. I have absolutely no control of certain things, but to just to care for and love the baby the best I can.

Most important to remember, nobody can tell anyone what to do, and the baby's parents  should tap into their intuition and connection with the Creator to know what to do. But basically, all we can do is pray.
Love and Blessings,

Eric

Hello Michelle,
Welcome to the group,
I mysself speak quechua, but I am from Peru not bolivia. I am well
aware that there are regional differences. But I have some bolivian
friends and we undertand eachother without problems. The main
variations are in the suffixes and some pronounciation difference.
How old are you children? Also another group member (Robert Beer )
Speaks bolivian quechua. My apologies for not having replied sooner I
have been away for quite a while. I am now back for a while so if you
have any questions please ask. Thanks

Initiation into the Art of the Chumpi Paqo

An Andean Healing Tradition
November 8-9

Taught by Zane Curfman

Minneapolis, MN

Cost $150

The Chumpi Paqo is a branch of the Andean Mystic Tradition known for the Chumpi Away initiation, also called the Andean Belting Ceremony or receiving the Bands of Power. This initiation is just the start of this fascinating art of personal power. Zane will be teaching some of the deeper aspects rarely taught outside of Peru as he learned from his teachers Andean Mystic Juan Nunez del Prado and Elizabeth Jenkins. The Chumpi's are belts or bands of living energy that surround the human energy field. Each belt is connected to one of the 5 elements. The practices we will explore have to do with working with a series of perceptual eyes on the body that are located within each of the belts. Within these practices we will learn to engage with nature spirits for guidance, healing, and to improve the quality of our lives. In addition Zane will help us to work with the shadow and the 7 powers of the unconscious.

This is 16,000 year-old tradition of nature mysticism brought to a height during the Inca Empire. This spiritual tradition teaches students how to interact with the Kausay Pacha or world of living energies. The Inca were preoccupied with the human experiences of living energy. Initiates in this tradition are taught how to "digest" or transform heavy energies that may lead to illness, depression, and conflict, and to harmonize the poq'po, or human energy field, with the 5 elements and the forces of nature allowing you to develop, deepen, improve, and increase your own personal power and connection to life. The Andean techniques are simple, without dogma, and can be applied to our daily lives.

Zane Curfman is a healer and initiated fourth level priest in the Andean Tradition.

Greetings All,

A Fire Ceremony had previously been announced for Jackson Michigan this weekend, September 13th. However due to a fantastic invitation we are having a change in venue.

The Fire Ceremony will now take place as part of EarthDance 2008, at the Ligon Center in Clio Michigan. 5213 E Farrand Rd Clio, MI 48420.

EarthDance promotes peace by joining participants worldwide in a synchronized Prayer for Peace and to support humanitarian causes through the global language of music and dance. To find out more about EarthDance, go to www.earthdance.org

Mateyo's Peruvian Fire Ceremony will take place after the Prayer for Peace which is at 7 PM sharp!

People will begin gathering at 4 PM for EarthDance.

The Fire is open to all abilities and ages. (Parents, please be fair to yourselves by finding childcare if your child would distract from your participation and enjoyment.).  No supplies are needed, and full instruction will be given before the ceremony.

We will have a review of the fire procedure for those of you new to the Ceremony before it begins. After the fire we will have a potluck and time for questions, sharing, healing, etc until about 9.

Please dress for the outdoors.  Bring your drum, rattle, and/or sacred object if you have one.  Vegetarian food for the potluck afterwards would also be appreciated.

Anyone currently registered for a class is encouraged to participate as part of the teaching.  Everyone else, a donation of $5 is requested. (Children free with adult)

*************************************************

Want to change the most troubling issue in your life, dropping your load of stress while starting 2 weeks of healing and transformation?  How about doing all that in just 3 hours, helping yourself AND the planetary consciousness at the same time?

Right now, right here, for us modern people with modern problems -- health, finances, relationships, you name it -- powerful help is available.  Mateyo has been running this 5,000 year old ceremony all over the U.S. and in Peru for 15 years, with good to miraculous results for the participants.  Ask around -- people you know may have attended a Fire and have some marvelous events to tell.

Immediately experience a profound level of healing change in your life by opening to the love of Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the Deep Self we share with Her children, all life on Earth. To do this, we turn over an important issue in our lives to Her, "letting go and letting Goddess," by placing a suitably tuned object into a ceremonially prepared fire. In return, we receive energy that specifically manifests the best that Pachamama can co-create with us.

Though results are not guaranteed (that is between Pachamama and you), many people have radically changed the most important issue in their lives in just one Peruvian Fire Ceremony. In nearly forty years of studying, traveling, and magickal workings, we have found nothing more profoundly effective -- and fun!

with Mateyo Empie
September 26-28th
in beautiful western Michigan.

Download the registration PDF at
http://www.shamaniccenter.org/forms/register_MI_sept.pdf

The Class
Mateyo has searched the world over for the most important, easiest to learn techniques of Aura Hygiene and energy working.  She teaches in a unique way that allows you to learn at your own pace, on your own level, by directly sensing subtle energies and entering heightened states of consciousness at will.  Allow her to share these most effective and necessary techniques with you in just one fun (and intense) weekend in September.  Individualized instruction in a small group ensures that beginners and the experienced alike will benefit greatly.

Access the power to change your life - now.  Experience the power to improve your life immediately through the fire ceremony.  Ground, hold space, and resonate with Mother Earth’s loving strength.  Discover other Peruvian teachings: channel healing energy, work with your wira cocha (luminous healing body), and practice psychic protection.  Remove energy-sapping psychic cords that poison relationships and learn to prevent their recurrence.  Explore group mind, the three layers of Self, types of sacred space, sound healing, and much more. Most importantly, our ayllu, a community of spiritual support and healing, will welcome you into our heart.

The Presenter
Mateyo Empie has spent 40 years learning and practicing everything that she could find taught in English and Spanish regarding personal growth, spiritual development, healing, and shamanism, in the U.S., India, and Peru.  For the last 15 years she has focused on Peruvian shamanism, including living in the Peruvian Andes at 11,000 feet for months at a time.  When not teaching throughout the United States, she lives in a loft in downtown Ypsilanti, MI, with her husband and numerous house plants.  In this world the plant and stone people are her most important advisors.

Advanced Study: The Medicine Wheel
Though there is no obligation to continue your studies with Mateyo, upon successful completion of the Empowerment Weekend you will be eligible to join the new Hampi Muyu Nan (Healing Power Path) one-year program, which begins with “Kanay Wilka Nina” (Kindling the Sacred Fire). We will meet three more times in the next year, receiving initiations, making the kuyllas (living stones) to go into our mesas (shaman’s toolkit), and growing spiritually in the comfort of our Ayllu, or spiritual community.

Awakening the Sacred Mid Ohio Valley

October 10th - 12th

People Spend $1000s traveling to sacred sites for renewal, inspiration, and healing each year.

Did You know that the Mid Ohio Valley is the home of an ancient series of Hopewell Ceremonial mound works just waiting to be honored and reactivated. Once reactivated these sites become a place for nature spirits to receive nourishment, and a meeting ground for spiritual communion. In return these spirits bring renewed energy to the community for peace, harmony, and the accomplishments of new dreams.

Join Andean Priest and Shaman Zane Curfman for this new weekend travel program.

We will be staying at the Ravenwood Nature Retreat in the the Highlands Nature Sanctuary of southern Ohio. This region of Ohio boasts some of the best wilderness hiking in the Midwest and is the center of several outstanding archaeological sites including serpent mound the largest serpent effigy in the Americas. The lower Scioto Valley Watershed, into which the Rocky Fork drains, was once the center of the largest and most artistic and complex native American civilization north of Mexico -- the prehistoric Hopewell Culture. The culture absorbed and united the tribes across most of the continents eastern deciduous forest west of the Alleghenies for at least five hundred years in the early part of the first millennium, with trade routes stretching from Yellowstone to Michigan and Florida. Their axis of power, and the largest repository of their sacred art and massive geometrical earthworks was located in Chillicothe, Ohio -- just twenty five miles east of the Highlands Nature Sanctuary

We will be awakening these sacred sites in a specific secession using ancient Native earth-keeper ceremonies. This energetic movement creates the energy necessary to facilitate driving forces to trigger the next step in our community's and worlds evolution. By visiting sites of importance which are associated with the history of the area from the earliest days of the Mound Builders and Hopewell, to Chief Cornstalk and Tecumseh, the first battles of the revolutionary war, to the present industry. To activate the potential for profound spiritual development and prepare all of the individual participants for the shift in consciousness that the Inka, and other ancient prophecies speak of as the "Golden Age of man"

The Price is $225 $125 deposit and registration due by Sept 15 the remaining is due at the time of the retreat limited to 12 so space is limited and includes lodging double occ (extra fee for private room) for the nights of the 10th and 11th at Ravenwood, transportation from ravenwood to all sites on the program, and all entrance fees to sites, and permits. Hello Michelle,

My wife, who is from Cochabamba, and I both speak Quechua (we have three children).  Don't have much time as I am preparing a 6-language Celtic phrasebook for much needed extra money.  If you are interested, I have published a website called "Literatura quechua":  http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robert_beer/
There are books for learning Bolivian and Bolivian-Cuzco Quechua available at the website of the Bolivian bookshop "Los Amigos del Libro":  http://www.librosbolivia.com/nuevo/Default.php
For books on the Incas try:  www.amazon.com  I'm sure there must be quite a variety.
