Hi,

Just found the group, and have been through the recent posts, great idea
to have a UK based AT group!

I recognise a couple of names, maybe from the BTB-C list, but good to
see some other AT owners.

Someone was asking about exhausts. I changed mine a while ago, and after
spending ages trying to decide which to go for I chose the Remus, which
was a bit pricey but sounds great and is very good quality. No need to
re-jet either.

Made few other mods to my AT as well, and recently rebuilt a XRV650
which can be seen on my web-site.

Regards,
Paul.

I've just fitted a BSM Future Carbon can. It's road legal but sounds and looks much better than the standard one - it has a really nice burble on the overrun. Hard to tell if there's much difference in performance. It feels better but it may just be that I give it more throttle 'cos it sounds nice. It also doesn't have a heat guard. Fit and quality seem pretty good. I bought it from David Silver Spares, I think the cost was about £250 for the can and adaptor pipe (non carbon version are cheaper).

Yep.
I went for a Remus Grand Prix Race after much consultation.
They don't need rejetting, have a wonderful sound, good quality
finish.
The only one problem is that the heat guard isn't retained and if you
wear waterproofs they can melt if it touches the exhaust down by the
RHS foot plate.

Sound is here: http://www.slaterz.co.uk/sounds/xrv750_remus_race.wav

I was for a while.

I joined with the intention of meeting up with the other North
Somerset peeps but never got round to it. Didn't see the point in
another subscription for the coming year so haven't joined back again.
The meets were too far for me personally, so that was that.

Morning all,

I've owned africa twins before and i was looking for another bike to
get me about on and i found a 92 model in good condition.

After buying the @ i was looking on the web to find out more
information about the bike, useful stuff like:

tips
modifications
servicing guides
manuals
products reviews etc.

I found some really good informative websites about the @ but they
were in either italian or german, you can use software translators.
But i couldn't find a UK owners club. So thats why i setup this
yahoo group, to share information, meet like mined people and have a
bit of fun which is what the @ is all about.

Please use all the folders, i will take a couple of pictures of my
bike later and put them in the photo section. I've found some info
on the net which i have converted to word docs and i'll put in the
files section.
Feel free to add links, photo's or anything else that is related to
@'s.

The only thing i will say is if we post pictures or files on the list
can we limit the size to 100kb, so we don't jam up peoples modems.

It would be good if in a month or so if we could organise a meet up
somewhere, its always good to put a face to a name.

Dave,

Me personally I would like to see a how to page, I remember seeing something
similar on www.africatwin.co.uk, it had a couple of pages that described how
to fit crash bars etc.
Oh and product reviews, its always good to get someone's opinion before you
buy or do something to your bike.

on the net which i have converted to word docs and i'll put in the
files section.
Feel free to add links, photo's or anything else that is related to
@'s.

The only thing i will say is if we post pictures or files on the list
can we limit the size to 100kb, so we don't jam up peoples modems.

It would be good if in a month or so if we could organise a meet up
somewhere, its always good to put a face to a name.

..for setting up the group. Nice to have somewhere for us Uk riders.

I have a 2002 AT with 6k miles on it and live in Abingdon. When we
get a few more people on here perhaps we should arrange a get
together somewhere.

Hi All
Good to see a UK list, I always wondered why there was never a UK web site
for @ so hopefully this is a start.

Anyway, braided brake lines - definitely something I'm looking into on my
@. It's a 98 model that I've only had for about 5 months. Absolutely love
it but the first time I got on it I nearly run into the back of a car. I
thought there was something wrong with the brakes but then I tried my
mates 97 model and they were the same. Must be a combination of worn lines,
old fluid and me being used to sportsbike brakes I suppose. Must admit
though, I found the lack of 'bite' was actually a bonus when on the dirt
for a novice like me.
It'll be interesting to see if it makes a difference.
cheers

I've just asked the MD at my ISP to get hold of www.xrv.org.uk for me.
Thinking that we can set up a UK based website for @'s as well.
We can use it initially as a collection point for links, articles, etc.. and
move with it as we want.
Let me know what you want to see on it.

I fitted some to a Kawasaki GT750 and they made a noticeable
difference. However I suppose its got to be down to the quality of the
bikes original hoses and probably in my case that the fluid was
changed so all in all it made a difference.
I must admit they do look nice though.

Hello,

I've fitted braided hoses to other bikes and never really noticed
much difference apart from the fact they look better. Some makes
come with imperial sized banjo bolts which threw me as I'd got rid of
any imperial spanners/sockets years ago as I was never using them.
Had to beg some of my aged father in the end.

I've currently got a 2000 model AT. Previously had a 1990 model. My
current bike has 81,000 miles on the clock and my old one had 55,000
when I part exchanged it for an FJ1200. They do seem to last
although I think my clutch needs a bit of TLC right now.

Hi Jim,
This is a new list and there's only a few of us here.
Personally I haven't but have heard good results from those that have
with a better more firmer feel.
My XRV is relatively new 2002, so haven't plucked up courage to do
much else than fit an aftermarket pipe and that's all.
Cheers
Dave.

Hi,

I own an xrv750s africa twin, i've owned it for the last couple of
years. I'm thinking of installing some braided lines to improve the
brakes, has anybody done this before?
