Dear Pool Campaigners
There has been quite a lot of press interest in the London Pools campaign over the summer, and no doubt in the individual campaigns due to the very hot weather.
GLA SELECT COMMITTEE
As a result of the work we have done and this increased level of interest the London Pools Campaign has been asked to speak to the GLA committee on Sep 18th looking at the legacy of the Olympics for London. Would anyone like to help prepare a submission? I thought if people most keen came to a brainstorming session next week, then we can produce a draft which can be circulated to everyone for comments - what does everyone think?
INTERVIEWS
Thanks to everyone who has taken part in the interviews Yurub has been carrying out with a representative from each campaign. We'll circulate the overall views soon.
TV AND PRESS
Meantime see below a couple of emails from granada tv and a freelance journalist, both interested in pool campaigns, please contact them directly if you have any info or want to work with them.
ELTHAM LIDO
See this link http://homepage.mac.com/gmcneill/PhotoAlbum9.html for some very sad pictures of the state of Eltham Lido. Val has very kindly passed on a copy of the business plan which they prepared in 1997 - Gary is using this for the skeleton business plan he is writing for pool campaigners. If anyone else would like a copy, please get in touch.

Thanks, Liz. If you could pass around the following, I
would be grateful:
I am a freelance journalist writing a story for a new
American travel magazine called Travel Savvy, about
London's lidos and public swimming/bathing places. I
am looking for anyone who could help me access
interesting angles on London's pools, with the
sophisticated urban traveller as a target audience. I
am looking for history, myth and lore, notoriety and
good stories, local colour, possible celebrity angles
if they exist, and basically an answer to the
question, why would someone want to come and swim in
this pool on their holidays? What's interesting or
unique about it?
Any help would be gratefully received. The magazine's
website is at: http://www.travelsavvymag.com and I can
be reached at home on 020 7485 0560, or on my mobile
on 07946 283 655. My deadline is next week, though it
would be nice to try to visit some lidos this weekend
if at all possible.
Many thanks in advance,
John Ghazvinian
