Dear all
I gather, from well placed sources, that LBTH are planning to allocate a figure around £2 million to York Hall at their meeting on 11th Feb. This will be matched, pound for pound, by the private contractor.
If this proves to be the case, in my opinion it would be right on the margin of acceptability. It's nowhere near the figure identified by the Steering Group and I think we're entitled to expect more, but £4 million is a lot of money and if it's spend wisely, could make a real difference to the place.
Anything less than £2 million would be inadequate and in my view would maintain the serious questions about the future of YH. I would favour relaunching the Save York Hall campaign if the Council does not make a serious cash committment to York Hall.
With terrible timing, I will be in Texas when the decision is made, but I hope some of our group will be able to make it and make the appropriate noises!
Best
