Hi,
So far I have mainly heard the reasons why people will not be coming
to the User Meeting on Monday at 19:00.
I know there are some very good reasons why some of you can't be
there to lend your support and ask questions.
What I don't know is how many of you will be there, listening to the
proposals and helping to ensure that the council and GLL understand
the ideas and feelings of those that care about York Hall.
Changes have already started – the existing staff has been advised
they will be made redundant or moved to other positions within the
council. One thing is for sure - the turkish baths will not be
the same when (or if) it reopens. It looks like its going to be one
of the last opportunities to make our voices heard before building
work starts.
GLL wants to create what they term a "Luxury spa" in the heart of
Bethnal Green. Is that really what is needed?
Are "plain, comfortable and clean" less marketable but more
appropriate objectives for York Hall?
"plain, comfortable and clean" as opposed to "Luxury" will mean affordable
prices and so allow a broader range of users to enjoy the
facilities - not as at Porchester Hall in Queensway only those with nearly 20
quid to spend every visit.
What is a "Luxury Spa" ?
Do you want one and at what price?
Come and find out and give your feedback on Monday at 19:00 in York Hall.
If you plan to attend on Monday please reply to this message. Lets
see how much support there is out there.
York Hall is changing - lets make sure its for the better !
Best Regards - Mark
