Exchanged emails with the 'Spa manager' at York Hall yesterday. Apparently what she describes as the 'experience facility' (it's 'the Turkish Baths, but with more facilities' apparently), are now destined to reopen in late February. What makes me think it won't?
I'm writing a piece about the Turkish Baths to celebrate their eventual reopening, if indeed, they do reopen, so any good anecdotes, information etc, will be welcome.
Best, Paul

I spoke with Garry Parker, General Manager York Hall, this morning
Here's the situation and outlook :-
Investigations have been completed, the design approved and funds
for the refurbishment of the Turkish baths available.
A 20 week contract has been placed with a contractor however before
it can start work on the Wet Side changing rooms needs to be
completed. The changing rooms are above the Turkish bath and there
is a risk that if work starts below before the upper level is
completed some of the work may have to be redone. Its planned to
complete the work in the changing rooms in August.
If the 20 week contract on the Turkish baths starts Monday 28 August
06 and allowing for 1 weeks contingency to tackle unforeseen
problems and 1 week off for Xmas it looks to me like Monday 29 Jan
07 would be a possible date to reopen the Steam.
Garry is more optimistic and thinks that the baths will be open
again before the New Year however he wants to wait until he sees the
work start before sending out any dates to the User Group.
Feel free to comment on the above.
Where else do you Steam ?
Why not let everyone else know where you have been Steaming instead
of York Hall? I've made a few trips to Munich :-

Good value but a bit too far away - even with discount airfares.
