It would be great if you could go along. I can't, I'm
sorry, but if I could get there, these are the
questions I would ask:
1. Why did Tower Hamlets and GLL lie to the public
when they said they would refurbish York Hall baths
and run it so that former users would feel welcome?
They have done everything they could to exclude us
(though they seem to have excluded everyone else in
the process).
2. Are they not deeply shamed by the cataclysmic drop
in attendance figures for the baths compared with the
numbers who used to attend before the baths were
closed?
3. Given the huge sums of public money spent on the
refurbishment and the abysmal attendance figures, is
it not time for them to resign en masse and let
someone else run the joint?
4. When do they caculate that the baths will break
even - anytime this century?
5. When do they intend to stop breaking the law and
run the place in accordance with the Gender Equality
Duty - positive discrimination such as having more
women's days than men's is outlawed?
6. Do they ever intend to stop taking the piss by
holding public 'consultations' when it is clear to
everyone they don't give a damn what other people
think unless it goes along with their own demented
plans for the place?
And other less temperate questions come to mind...
Best, Paul
