What About Scheduling Traditional Turkish Bath Practices 2 days/Week   Message List

Re: [Yorkhall] What About Scheduling Traditional Turkish Bath Practices 2 days/Week?

this sounds like a very sensible, positive and moderate suggestion. Put across coherently and frankly I think it should stand some chance of success but it may take some persistence.

Since the abuses made some users in the previous incarnation are a reason/excuse given for the rather draconian practice implemented currently, I think these should be addressed:namely that traditional users do not condone the mis-use of the space by those who have come for sexual gratification, indeed we are horrified by the idea as would be users in other parts on Europe where sauna culture is better understood. Thereby, we are explaining that we can educate good sauna practice. I think this is very important. GLL has a policy, correctly of wanting all users to respect others and to act in a decent way. That is exactly what traditional bath users practice.

Hi James, yes very well thanks.

A few of the members of the Yahoo Yorkhall group still go along for
a steam and have recently commented on the very low numbers
attending compared to when the place was nearly falling to pieces -
particularly on the men's days.

There is concern that without an increase in numbers the facility
might not be economic in the long term and would have to close

The users felt that numbers could be increased by appealing to a
wider client base and in particular to their needs.

Basically they think that if the facility could be open 1 day/week
men and 1 day/week women in order that the traditional practices of
optional nudity and body rubs could be reintroduced then many of the
old customers would return.

There are over 160 in the Yahoo group today and I'm sure many, many
more customers who enjoyed the great atmosphere and friendliness
despite the appalling condition it used to be in would be happy to
return.

Is there a way that the suggestion could be proposed to the
management?

Many Thanks Mark

Hi Mark,

I hope you are keeping well. I am sorry the weekend does not include
free access to the Spa.

Kind Regards

Hi James, I never tried out the spa so I would be interested to know
if the offer covers it.

Thanks Mark

That too is a good idea but so long as you're dealing with junior/site management, the door will only open when there is a tool to enable such a thing. If...
