A group for pilots, enthusiasts and spotters to find an airstrip, send details of one not listed or to report strip details which are listed TBC( to be confirmed). The files will not contain any strips that are already listed in the Pooleys or A.F.E. or Farmstrips Flight Guides.
The listing will gradually be expanded to include location (by map referrence and GPS co-ordinates)details, though some strips already have these. Map ref and GPS will be centre of (main) runway length or village/farm name otherwise.Contact details are not listed.
It is very important to contact a strip owner/operator in advance so not to spoil it for others coming after you. *** IF YOU ARE AN OWNER/OPERATOR AND YOU DO NOT WISH DETAILS TO BE ON THE SITE I WILL DELETE ALL REFERENCE EXCEPT THE LOCAL VILLAGE NAME.
Files have current known/suspected strips for the South of England and Wales; it will be up to others to send any further files for the North, East, and Scotland/Northern Ireland. The files will also be attached to the Air-Britain Sightings group also on Yahoo. Files are individual listings for the following counties: Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire & I.O.W., Herefordshire, Kent, Middlesex, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Surrey, Sussex, Wiltshire, Worcestershire and all of Wales, updated occasionally. I add counties as often as I can; please be patient waiting for your interests to appear.
*** THE MAJORITY OF THESE AIRSTRIPS ARE PRIVATE AND MANY RELY ON THE GOODWILL OF THEIR NEIGHBOURS TO KEEP OPERATING. PLEASE USE FOOTPATHS AND TRACKS WHERE SHOWN ON MAPS.IT IS ADVISABLE TO WEAR A REFLECTIVE JACKET AT THE MORE BUSY STRIPS.
