Sounds like a bad air leak or the carb is dropping to bits inside.
mine did but I caught it before it got to bad.
btw dont rev the engine with the belt on it will kill the gearbox bearings

thanks to all that have responded to my request,the car electrics all seem to be
working have checked earths /connectors and have found the car will rev/run in
neutral 100% but when in gear - under load it cuts out ,backfires and niether me
or the mechanic can understand it ,have replaced so many parts,alternator/cam
sensor,plugs -leads,battery,and other various parts with no success
,filler/breather ok,petrol pipe clear of everything ie not trapped/away from
heat source ,i have no hair left to tear out ,any ideas welcome.thanks
