Hi All

Nice to meet you all, I bought an 53 reg Aixam 500SL in blue a couple of weeks
ago and have been enjoying the fun and comfort (trade up from a Reliant Robin,
aahhhhh modern luxuries! lol) a lovely day today so we decided it would be
perfect to go for a nice drive, went up to Formby to look for Red Squirrels, I
never saw one but I did see the inside of a Yellow AA van :( Driving along with
no problems, stopped in traffic to turn right, set off and there was a bang and
I thought we must have run over something but then every time we accellerated or
decellerated (sorry about the spelling it doesn't look quite right) there was an
awful grinding sound of metal on metal and we didn't seem to be able to get
above about 35-40mph. Had a look and I could see what looked like score marks on
the slopey side of the triangly bits of the back pulley. I have had a look on
here and from other posts it sounds like it might be my rear pulley wear tips?
Does this sound likely to you lot who know more about these things than me?
Where can I buy some? Is there anyone who sells them who is open on a Sunday?
How much ish will they cost me?

Any information greatly appreciated.

Carol

Hi Carol, glad to see you've made it over here, and sorry you've had trouble with the little 500. We do need to find out exactly what the problem is though....

Hi JJ Just been up and had a look at it, the rear pulley rotates freely and quietly when I turn it by hand and there is no side to side movement, it is not...

Yes that looks like one of the little Monopoly houses to me Carol. Within the home mechanic's range of jobs IMO and I can't remember the price, seem to recall...

Hi Carol. The pulley halves should be twisted relative to one another against the spring. This keeps the ramps together. AND keeps the plastic bits under...
