I wouldn't blame the RAC. They only get about an hour to fix things at the roadside,anything longer and it gets towed. The engine earth was obviously working...
But every time i've had the RAC out they put a meter across the battery, even if they have it started by then... that should have told them it wasn't charging....

As far as I understand it charging wasn't the problem? I assume it was ignition so I suppose he tried the usual things eg plugs etc and still couldn't get it...
