Update.. So I replaced the cable, boy that was fun! Trolley jack and axle
stands helped... and while I was fitting the new cable I had to take the
selector lever off at the gearbox end. While refitting noticed that the large
nut on the shaft was loose. When I re-tightened it, hey presto... all started
working properly. Default preloaded spring engaged Fwd.. and after a bit of
adjustment got my gearbox working again as it should. Yay! Noticed that the
shaft and nut were oily... I guess the oil had seeped out via the loosened nut.
Topped oil up a smidge (previous owner had thankfully done the filler pipe mod).
Again thanks for the help...
I shall be tackling my passenger door lock next, as the door won't open from the
inside... I noticed JJ has dealt with this little problem already!
Cheers all.. happy pottering!
Aid.

the gear lever put that also into fwd, connect and adjust the cable at the

reliable fwd, neutral and back. With a bit of fiddling it should be done.

Hi Neil, There maybe someone on here that has one. But Microcar gave hardly any
of there own dealerships workshop manuals...
Might be easier if you let us know what it is in particular you're after, I'm
sure someone can offer some help.
I've found invaluable help on here for my various Quads (Virgo, MC1 and now
Aixam).

I have one for the MC series 1 & 2 (the newer cars) plus a workshop manual for
the Lombardini petrol engine.
Hi
I come back with a problem...
My car is not get more then 73 km/h.Why?
The belt is at max ratio.
The accelerate cable is thinght as much as possible.
What can be the reason?
Can I ansamble the gearbox in a different mode and get a higher ratio?
Please help ! What to do?What to check?
*My consumpt is 4.5 l/ 100 km (i think the brakes are ok).
Well to be fair--the Aixam 500 Diesel wont go much faster than 50MPH anyway!
(75KPH is 46MPH)
The engine just hasnt got the power--Its only 11 BHP anyway! If the gearbox is
working--then you assembled it correctly. It wouldnt work at all if it was
wrongly assembled!
Only way to get any extra out of it is to remove and alter the diesel Injection
Pump output, by altering the elements.
--Even then its still only able to do about 55MPH on the flat!

Hello,
me again with another daft question . RE my 2006 A751, petrol model Aixam.
Anyone please tell me why my dasboard SOMETIMES fails to show the display???
When it doesnt Im without Speedo, ALL warning lights, fuel gauge AND INDICATORS.
Everything else works , the engine runs ok and all lights etc work.
Im sure its something to do with the switchgear but I would really appreciate
some help.
Im NOT technical so if anyone does reply please keep it ''idiot proof'' as I'll
have to TRY and sort this myself as I live in the ''wilderness''
miles from any real technical assistance.
MANY thanx,
Kim
Hi All,
My latest conundrum: Replaced my battery on Monday, all was well afterwards. Car
started and ran fine. Went to go out the other day, starter cranks fine...plenty
of juice in new battery but engine wouldn't fire up. Tried a few times... smoke
coming form under bonnet... panic and whip bonnet open to find a small fire! Not
good, but luckily manage to blow it out... phew. Looks like insulation gone on a
few wires trailing over head of engine... lots of masking tape indicates a bit
of "bodgery" has ensued before. I guess its possible I moved something in
fitting the new battery. These wires have fused together (indicating it was the
insulation that melted/caught fire. I'm guessing the only thing to carry enough
volts/amps to cause this would be the HT leads? Help! I need a wiring diagram!
Rapidly losing all patience with my little Aixam... one thing after another. I
only use it to transport my kids about, and the odd trip to Tesco's, but I
really don't to get rid.
Aid
Hi Alex. The diesel should get maybe 3.5l / 100km something is holding the
Aixam back.
I only get about 76kmh, how are you measuring the speed?
I can think of only:
Low tyre pressure. I use 1.9 bar in the front.
Dragging brake ( all of the wheels should be cold, but the right front a
LITTLE warm from the engine)
Blocked exhaust
Engine problem - is there smoke or bad starting?
Dirty air filter
JJ.

Thank you for reply.
The exhaust is direct pipe and at back is a Sebring exhaust. The air filter is a
little dirty...but was more dirty and the car get more speed.
When I start the car,is a little smoke, and when I push the "pedal to the metal"
is a little smoke. No starting problems.
I measured with the GPS and the speedometer is Ok.Last summer I measured with
the GPS (88 km/h) and on the speedometer was about 90 km/h. (2 km/h error at 90
km/h).
One day,I have some wind in the direction of the car,and my car get 90 km/h.
That's 'cause Parkers is wrong, haven't a clue about them etc. The CO2
figure will be from manufacturer's fuel/CO2 consumption claims.
Ok for your environmental conscience.
Last time I looked, quadricycles aren't CO2 lab. tested. That figure is what
the VED would be worked out from.
They aren't emissions tested either, don't need a catalyst, so we do gain
that at least.
Oh well, off out now to pay the tax man for another year, disc expires in a
couple of weeks.

You all know what one is. Silver, 4 seater, diesel, remote central
locking(working fob), alloys, electric windows.
Registered 2002 but still on a 51 plate, 77,000 miles with full service history
up to 62,000.
Usual cracking around the filler neck and a crack in the front N/S bumper. (I'll
put a couple of pictures on in thrashcan_bob's photo's) Does have a different
front passenger seat as it was a motobility car and the original seat was
removed to allow room for the wheelchair to be stowed.
Mot November 2012, Tax October 2012.
Looking for £725.
Anyone know the size of the bearing on the front cvt pulley. The one which the
belt rests on when idling.
Even if it's an aixam part only. I need to know the actual dimensions not just
the part number or is there a standard bearing number??
Dont know the dimensions but you can get that belt idle-bearing from
'piecessanspermis' in France....
As I recall, its about 15 eur....

Hi Alistair
just to add If you have the size try www.simplybearings.co.uk they are
cheap and very reliable for all your bearings.
I need to do this job on my Aixam how do you get the old one off?
Many thanks

Hi all
This post will hopefully save somebody else from a broken tail gate glass.
Last week I (unusually) parked my MC2 facing upwards on my quite steep drive.
On Friday we had strong winds in the area & I returned home to find the lower
part of the tail hanging down & away from the car with the glass smashed.
I examined CCTV images convinced somebody had tried to break in but what it
shows is poor 'Little Red' being buffeted around by the winds & then the tail
gate glass exploding.
I've nearly always parked her facing down the incline (in much worse weather
conditions) so my conclusion is the wind pressurised the lower half of the gate
then suddenly reduced or increased and because the weight of the gate was facing
downhill hey presto!
In fairness my drive is quite open to the elements & the winds were very strong
so the chances of it happening to somebody else are slim but I thought it would
be worth letting you know in case you have a similar set up.
If you've managed to make it to the end of this tale (well done!) but does any
one know could I buy a second hand tail gate & simply swap the glass?
Thanks
Hi,
I’m not an MC2 owner so can’t be sure but looking at the pictures I’ve got
available on the web it looks to me as though the glass is bonded to the
tailgate. Earlier bonding methods meant you could change your own, but I
think these days it’s best left to the professionals. So it’s either swap
the entire tailgate for a good used one, or get Autoglass or some other
windscreen company to replace it for you. You might find it is covered on
your insurance either free or on payment of a nominal excess, usually £50,
and they’ll come to your home and do it for you.

I bought a used rear hatch door. I decided it was too costly to piece together
the parts and then hope to put them together in order and then hope the
completed door sealed well.
