Hi all.
I've been thinking about this for a while now, the idea is just to
have a bit of a get together of robot builders over a weekend and
also to show of our creations to visitors. As I work at the
observatory science centre in herstmonceux UK ( http://www.the-
observatory.org ) I may be able to get a space for the weekend to do
this.

I would welcome anyone's ideas or help on this one, and I would also
like to know if anyone would be interested in coming along with
there robots.

Regards.

Hi,

OK no problem. The freight charges wont be too much for you as PIC
chips are very light weight.

Hi all,

The PIC chip ready programmed would cost £8 plus P&P at £3. You can
download the code for ARM RAM from my web site.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in replying, my main net machine running XP died
on me so I've just moved all my stuff over to linux RedHat.
I don't sell a full kit of parts, I only sell a programmed PIC chip.
The rest of of the parts you can get from a local
hobby store (like the servos and that).

If you want to buy a ready programmed PIC chip then I'm only too happy
to supply you with one.

I've got a new robot project comming out soon using some of my SSCR_1
speed controllers, which should be good.

Regards.

Hi Harold,

Sounds good, tell me what sort of controls do you use for them. Do
you use radio control or a MCU of some kind.

Oh a note to the rest of the group, i'm looking for a new moderator,
so if that sounds good to you drop me a line.

Hi!
thanks for d quick response. hey i just wanna get some idea of
what kind of robot is good for our projects. the functions of it.
well we choose the robot that is controlled by pc which is connected
to parallel ports. well we does want the easy robot that is easily be
assembled. anything at least we can pass the requirements of our
subjects. i would really appreciate if u can teach me how to make
dat. anyway we can pay it if you want to (but in cheapest price). can
u send me what kind of robot dat is can easily be programmed and
easily assembled. i know for sure you have an existing programmed
robots there..perhaps we can make a copy of that...thanks again...

Hi,
From your post it sounds like you have to have some form of computer
to control the robot, be it a PC or MCU of some type. The easy to
get hold of parts in most places are PCs, think back to the older
PCs such as the 386s and 486s, some these have 5 ¼ floppy drives in
(you know, the really big disk ones that really were floppy). These
have stepper motors in, two of these could make the base for your
robot, then have an external PC to control them from the parallel
port (search the web for info on that).

That should be the easiest way to do things, as well as being cheap.
Let me know how it goes.
Regards.
