Dear Fellow Robotics nuts,
Introducing Robux, the home of Open Source Robotics. Presented on this
site you will find a whole host of open source projects and in our
forums you will find some very helpful people to talk to and discuss
ideas. The site also allows you to add your own content, so you can
add photos and information about your robots and let the world see. We
even have a dedicated Robotics Wiki

Enjoy and remember, it's FREE

Hi all, just testing the water here.

I've seen some JCB digger type toys that are radio controlled, they
have caterpillar tracks so seem ideal for robotics type applications.

The remote has 4 controls, so 2 for forwards, backwards and steering
then the other 2 for digger bit.

I've not got a picture but done a quick search on ebay to see and
found a photo of something similar
(http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-8-Scale-Full-Functional-Super-RC-Bulldozer-with-light_W\
0QQitemZ130044193783QQihZ003QQcategoryZ140988QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
), although the remote control looks different.

They also have bulldozers (3 channel remote) and tipper trucks ( 3
channel remote), I think I can mix a match what I buy, I have to buy
10 of them in the go or more.

I wouldn't say they are dirt cheap but £30 (-/+ a pound, due to
conversion rate of the euro) seem pretty good, is anyone interested? I
know 2 people so far that want them, plus me, so that's 3, but need 7
other people (or to get shot of 7 other units) if anyone is interested?

Not sure what the postage cost will be, worst case is parcel2go, whom
charge about 11 quid I think.

I'm tempted just to buy them, but even I don't need that many remote
control JCB's, lol

Btw, they seem to be about 1/10 scale (not an expert on JCB's but they
don't seem to be modelled on brand type etc)

Hi,

I'm currently working on a product design for an exciting new type of
tamagotchi virtual pet. We are a small design consultancy in london
and wanted to make a prototype that we can show to clients with the
hope to see the product to be made commercially. We are currently in
need need of some help with the electronics and software.

We have allready designed a storyboard but need to convert this into a
series of pictures that we can incorporate into the prototype. The
estimated screen size is 1.5" with around 120x 120 pixels. It may not
need to be interactive at this point. Is there anybody out there who
is handy with this kind of work? or any advice on the best way of
going ahead? We can pay for your help.

Many thanks,

Max

Hi all,

Seems a long time since anyone has posted on here. Anyhow just to let
you all know the Robux project is starting to make a real move on now,
the protocols are now defined and we have speed controllers designed
and the Power management module is under design as we speak.

All comments welcomed, there is a forum setup for it at
http://www.robotbuilder.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=600&whichpage=9
with now well over 100 posts regarding the project.

The home page can be viewed at http://www.robux.co.uk

Hi all,
You first need to be a bit more pacific as to what you would like to
do, what type of robot you want to build. Don't worry about how
ambitious it maybe, we'll be able to guide you to something of use.

The best starting point is to start looking around other peoples web
sites, you can look over my web site at
http://www.botic.com/alsrobotics

Do you have any expertise in other fields, like computer
programming, engineering etc.

Regards.

If you are looking for parts and some info, then I suggest:

for the USA: http://www.acroname.com
(Radio Shack might have some electronics books/projects to learn from)

and in the UK: http://www.totalrobots.com
(Maplan Electronics might have some electronics books/projects to

Hi all.
I've been thinking about this for a while now, the idea is just to
have a bit of a get together of robot builders over a weekend and
also to show of our creations to visitors. As I work at the
observatory science centre in herstmonceux UK ( http://www.the-
observatory.org ) I may be able to get a space for the weekend to do
this.

I would welcome anyone's ideas or help on this one, and I would also
like to know if anyone would be interested in coming along with
there robots.

Regards.

Hi all,

The PIC chip ready programmed would cost £8 plus P&P at £3. You can
download the code for ARM RAM from my web site.
