Hi
I think back holgate st has been knocked down. Its on the 1891 OS map for
Manchester NE. Its one of the streets running parallel to thompson st. I
think its underneath the Royal mail sorting office or the thompson st fire
brigade hq. I bought the map in stanfords manchester.
hope this helps

Hi,
I haven't come across the street you mention - however, last year we
produced a Information booklet and a CD Rom which contains a 4 old maps of
the area - so if you are lucky the street may be listed on one of the maps -
I can send you a free copy of both these resources - if you provide me with
your mailing address?
I have also forwarded a copy of your message to our group "Friends of Angel
Meadow" as someone else in the group may be able to help - you might also
like to join this group - membership is free and all the instructions for
joining are on the website.

Subject: Streets In And Around Angel Meadow
Hello All,
Is there anyone who may be able to help me? My Gt. Grandfather is
shown as a Weaver of Back Holgate Street, Manchester in 1851. I am
told that this was very close to Angel Street and wonder whether anyone
knows whether either Street still exists. I can't find either on the
1851 census but, then, not being local, am unsure where the boundaries
of that time lay. Would love to hear from anyone who might be able to
shed some light. Thank you.
