Re: [angelmeadow] A Great turn out for the Ancoats: Old and New Walk.

Hi Mike

thanks so much for organising the walk yesterday, I found it absolutely
fascinating! Didnt even know that part of Manchester existed so a real
revelation!

i'd love to come along to others so please keep me informed. Wonder if you ever
do anything in the castlefields area as I'd love to know more about the history

Anyway cheers again!
Clare

Today, Sunday 22nd July 2007 Professor Mike Rose led 24 of us around
Ancoats - and the sun actually shone! We had a great walk, around
Royal Mill, Murray Mill, the Rochdale Canal, New Islington and Anita
Street which used to be called Sanitary Street.

Afterwards a couple of us headed over to the Marble Arch for an organic
beer and some lunch.

£73 was raised which will go towards the cost of renovating the wall
plaque in Angel Meadow.

Many thanks again to Prof Mike Rose.

I have uploaded some photos from the walk onto the website - they can
be found at:

Regards,
Mike
