I've just finished reading a novel called "Angel Meadow" by Audrey
Howard - its very well researched and centers on the character Nancy
Brody who lives in Church Court, Angel Meadow, who through sheer
determination and hard work in the cotton industry rises from the slums
to enjoy the riches of Victorian Manchester during the industrial
revolution.

Audrey Howard's writing superbly captures the sights, sounds and
feelings of this era and although the book is a bit Mills and Boons –
it's a really good read.
