Subject: Re: [angelmeadow] Public Consultation Meetings forImprovements
to the park
Hi all
Just to say that I thought last night was very positive and the
turn-out great - thank you to everyone who turned up. The plans looked
good to me although I had a couple of suggestions:
I would prefer the 'interpretation' area with historic signage to be up
in the St Michael's Flags end of the park, as this would be more
contemplative. I suggested swapping it with the play area, as I felt
swings etc would be more appropriate down near the lawn / picnic area. I
also felt that the play area should be kept fairly low key (eg sings,
hopscotch) - Groundwork had a picture of a 'kick-back' wall which I was
against, as it gave me visions of skateboarders.
I liked the image of the new entrance but was a bit concerned that the
suggestion was for 'Gateway to the Irk Valley' to feature more
prominently than 'Angel Meadow & St Michael's Flags' on the signage.
However, I liked the majority of the ideas - what did everyone else
think?
Cheers
Bronwyn

Hi there,
Groundwork have started to advertise public consultation meetings
for the proposed development of one of Manchester's longest surviing
green spaces - us - Angel Meadow and St Michael's Flags.
The public consultations will be held at Charter Street House, 142
Dantzic Street (please use the Little Nelson Street entrance) on:
May 18th 11.45 am to 1.45pm
May 20th 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm
The aim of the meetings is to obtain suggestions from the general
public which will then be used to devise a more final design and
agree the overall appearance of the development.
These notices have been delivered to all of the apartment blocks
bordering the area and there are also a number of signs in the park.
Hope to see you there at one of these consultations,
Regards
Mike
