Subject: [angelmeadow] Angel Meadow walk
Hi Angel Meadow,
This is Ed Glinert, author (The Manchester Compendium) and tour guide (New
Manchester Walks).
We're doing a walk on Monday 25 May at 2pm called "The Filthy & The Rich",
starting at Selfridge's, and going right into the heart of Angel Meadow via the
"two nations", the rich & the poor, as Disraeli put it, or, if you look at it
another way, "Scotland" (Scotland Bridge) and "Gibraltar" (Faber St)!
We will be dealing with the history of the area, contrasting the wealth of the
city centre and the traditional poverty around the Irk, looking at how LS Lowry
depicted the area, and finishing off for a well deserved pint in the Marble.
The walk costs £6. Accompanied children free. Our website is
Newmanchesterwalks.com
Be nice to see you there.
Cheers
Ed Glinert
