Hello,
PROPOSED ENTRANCE DESIGN
------------------------
Following discussions with Groundwork about the initial proposed
entrance off Style Street into the park, a 2nd design has been drawn
up which captures the original traditonal design requirements
specified and voted for at the last consultation meeting on 10-JUN-
04. Also the design is similar to a church 'porch' which is
reflective of the previous St Michael's and All Angels Church which
once stood on the site. This second design is available for you to
view on our Website under the folder path:
Files > Friends Group Folder > Traditional_Entrance.pdf
The Friends group committee are due to meet up with Groundwork this
Thursday 05-AUG-04 therefore if you have any comments on this 2nd
design please let us know before then, as a decision is needed very
soon as to which is actually put in place. The initial design can
also be found in the same folder, filename: newentrance1.JPG
FOAM LOGO
---------
Recently we launched a search for a logo which the friends group
could use to easily identify the group and provide a recognisable
symbol to be used in all publicity. One of our new members Kelly
Harvarde has submitted a very good design which we are considering
using. It can be found again in the same folder, filename:

MORE PHOTOS
-----------
This weekend I checked up on the current conditions of the park,
which were quite disappointing. Although the council have done a
good job mowing the St Michael's Flags area the lower park - Angel
Meadow is suffering under so much wildflowers, weeds and litter. The
area underneath the railway bridge which we tidied up during the
clean up day in March is once again occupied by homeless people.
There were two tents in the park. Surrounding their encampment are
lots of needles and drug paraphernalia. Walls are covered in
graffiti. This makes the whole Angel Meadow look very run down.
Several photos of this can be seen on the website under:

If anyone spots needles in the park please report it to the Sharps
Needle Squad on 0161 953 2784 or 9532746
If anyone sees people sleeping rough in the park please report it to
Darren Caproli 0161 2345339/ 0791 9325479 (Housing Dept –
Outreach) or "Counted In" org that tries to put homeless people into
using services provided (counselling, shelter etc) 0161 236 3064
GRANTS
------
Unfortunately Living Spaces grant was over subscribed this year and
therefore our application for £16400 was turned down. This was to
buy benches, bins and history plaques for the park. As a result we
will be looking at alternative sources of funding.
