Hi,
Today we we're offered another grant to help pay for the proposed
redevelopment of the park. That's four grants so far that we've won.
The details are:
£3000 from Voluntary Action Manchester (VAM) Community Chest Round
9 funding partly from the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit (NRU) - This
money will be used to purchase 6 Black steel benches designed by
David Ogilvie (at a cost of £500 per bench)
£500 from Change Grant - this allows the friends group to purchase
stationary or small equipment - we budgeted to allow for posters &
printing so if anyone is feeling creative or wants to get involved
let me know!!!
£6163 from CAS:H Grants, New Deal for Communities Team. This money
will be used to put in solar powered street lighting. Unfortunately
our original grant application was for £14,000 to pay for 4
streetlights! So as we are short of this target amount we will need
to apply for other grants to make up the difference. Again any help
offered to help search for funding and write grant applications
would be much appreciated!!
£8,981.00 from BTCV - this is to pay for wildflowers and plants in
the park. The amount will be paid in three instalments and we've so
far had the first - and spent some of it on the Vicarage Gardens
visit. We hope also to purchase a chestnut (or oak tree) to be
planted during the opening ceremony on the 11-DEC-04 at 11AM.
So in total so far we've been awarded £18,644!! Pretty cool hey!
As mentioned previously Adrian our treasurer is soon to be leaving
the area so if member of the group would like a challenging role
helping manage our accounts and the direction this money is spent in
please get in touch,
Regards,
Mike Wingfield
