I presently have a garter snake, and love it! I
had a rough green snake, but it died within one month
of purchasing it--very sad. But the garter has
turned out to be a better snake, all around. Very
active, curious, alert, and has a voracious appetite.
There is one problem I have noted with the garter snake
I have, one plate/scale, behind its left eye is
indented--has been since shortly after I brought the snake
home, though this doesn't seem to affect the
snake--seems most healthy.<br><br>In the past I have had
various small lizards, turtles, a tortoise, and many
other kinds of pets--I am a animal lover.<br><br>Well,
thank you, again, for the invite.

Thanx, I don't know how much advice I'll be able
to offer folks as I'm fairly new to all this.
Snakewise I have a Corn, Children's Python, Malaysian Blood
Python and very naughty Honduran Milk that seems to have
disappeared! I had to keep her hatchling box in with the Blood
one night and now no sign of her!! Anyone heard of
pythons eating snakes? Aptly enough her name was
Houdini!!

I agree with this but what can we do? The reptile
keeper is an easy target as we are classes as "diffrent
or strange" which makes us easy target for misguided
criticism. This is due more to lack of understanding than
anything else and the fact there are not as many place
made to support abandoned reptiles. I also think the
lack of positive info for the public from the genuine
keeper is hard to get out there. Unless you are in a
reptile group such as this you can all to easily be un
aware of the positve things done. I know a few member
now whom take in herps that have been
rescued.<br><br>So in short I think we have to get our meesage to
the general public rather than keeping it to ourselfs
or see our hobby made more and more difficult as
time goes on. <br><br>cheers <br><br>Tommy

Hi there Dean, great ideas. We are only moving about 5 miles away, so it
shouldn't be too bad! :o)

Hi Magz<br> you don't say how far you are
moving?, but have you thought about a box with a hot water
bottle (covered by towels), or in outdoor type shops you
can get chemical heat pads you scrunch em up to
generate heat (as far as i know this is what they use for
sending reptiles in air mail).<br> hope it goes well<br>

Hi Annie<br><br>I am sure that your feelings are
shared by the majority of serious herpers out there in
the UK, but the question is.... WHAT DO WE DO???....
some issues i agree with in theory but to tar all
herpers with the same brush and to feed the public with
misleading or out of date statements which brings us into
focus as being bad people and uncaring and happy to
have pets who die within a year of getting them due to
lack of knowledge is deffinately NOT ON.... <br><br>I
have had some of my snakes for 2 yrs or so now... so
if they were supposed to be dying like flies... I
reckon I must be doing something wrong in their eyes but
right in mine... I even have eggs this year.... I mean
would an ill cared for and unhappy animal go so far as
to reproduce??... I DONT THINK!!!.<br><br>This is a
touchy subject and one that should be looked into
carefully before making any kind of protest otherwise you
may end up with more than u can chew regarding the
legalities... and remember the bigger the organisations against
us... the bigger their SOLICITORS!!!!<br><br>take care
and just my pennies worth<br><br>Karen :o)

some of u may have allready heard the stockport
show for sunday 18 th march has been cancelled ,as
have load's of shows in the past .well i think the
time has come for us the serious reptile keepers
should make a stand and make our voices heard ,has
anyone even asked us how we feel about all this ?
NO,they haven't and what is more they won't we will be
walked all over if we don't make a stand now .......

Hi all<br><br>Some of you will probably know that
I am moving house on Monday. My question is: what
is the best way to move my snakes? I want to keep
them as warm and calm as possible, any ideas?
Thanks!<br>&lt;&lt;**Magz&gt;&gt;**
