Lol u managed to write a lot these past cuppl o days. I havent
noticed TOO much covering up of SES links at the boys skool, Mr
Lacey just refused to admit that the SES had any particular
influence on skool policy. I have spoken to various teachers who hav
acknowledged the existance of the book and just laughed at it - i
must admit most of it was sensationalist twaddle that went into
depth about the most insignficant flaws of the SES and St James -
altho Mr Capper did laughingly stand by his statement that cold
showers in the mornings were good for schools! (If you are rushed
for time I encourage you to go straight to my closing paragraph.)
I havent seen too much evidence of St James covering up
links with the SES, at least not to the pupils. At this moment in
time, the current Lower sixth were invited to split into two groups
at morning and afternoon meditation - those who meditate at home and
those who dont. I was not suprised to see only 3 out of 30 stating
they meditated at home, since after 6 years, meditation just becomes
a chore, especially when you dont understand, or care less, about
the benefits! I personally have meditated outside skool, and find
their mantra-based meditation does nothing FOR ME. I can well
believe it could help others.
I have been told on good authorities that Mr Capper and Mr
Rasmussen were 'encouraged' to leave their teaching posts in part
due to their decisions to leave the SES. This may be incorrect but I
doubt that many save the Governers and top SES ppl could verify
this. Things like this are important criticisms to make, things that
jeopardize pupil's education which surely must be the point of St
James.
I have also been told many horror stories about the SES, none of
which Ill bother typing up unless someone particularly asks me to.
The SES, from what I can see, had the most horrible secrets, most
cruel, conservative leaders and stupid ideals, 20 years ago. I
believe it has changed somewhat, but I personally dislike it. Why
can we 'ordinary folk' not get the teachings directly, as opposed of
through Mr Lambie who I think very little of. I quite happily state
my Anti-SES views to teachers and Mr Debenham alike and was quite
amused to b told that a teacher was 'Disappointed in me for not
joining the SES'! I liken the SES to the Pharisees at the time of
Jesus' crucifixion - well-meaning, (some anyway)and standing behind
useful scriptures, but too full of beaurocracy and placing too muh
importance on stupid ritulas and shows of deference to Mr Lambie
insead of what really counts.
My Yahoo ID doesnt really disguise my identity an i am in St
James still ,but any SES teachers or whatever know I dont appreciate
the SES and now I am a prefect in the sixth form, can do little to
affect my life or me in any way. I would find any such attempts
amusing. On this note I will leave those who respect the SES core
beliefs, but see great flaws as well, with a quote from Edmund
Burke - 'All that is necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men
to do nothing'. If you SES members do NOT make ANY grievances known
immediately to your tutors and press them until such matters are
rectified. you are just allowing the SES to rot away to the filth it
was in so many years ago. At the moment the attitude I see from SES
members is 'well some things are pointless and bore me/ I find very
wrong but Im not going to rattle anyonne's chains in case they do
something to me and besides ITS NOT PERFECT'. Lol I know many elder
SES members who would disagree. Adios
