Hello Dedicated Followers of The Kinks
I received my newsletter from Helge today and here is an extract from it:-
Queens Jubilee Concert
"It was a very questionable event last month when Ray appear at the
Jubilee Concert for the Queen. The whole thing took place at the
Buckingham Palace Gardens and most of the acts were some sort of
ridiculous. Rays perfromance wasn't good and the backing band was also
not good (no wonder: Phil Collins on the drums!). I think there was no
reason to play there (he also felt not comfortable as he said later in a
BBC-interview) but he said that he wanted to get his auntie in. Maybe
thats one reason."
What are your opinions on the above extract? Personally I think Ray was OK at
the Jubilee concert. He managed to make the Queen smile and that's not easy!!
Maybe it wasn't the most mindblowing performance in the history of rock 'n' roll
but what the heck he managed to get the crowd participating. Ray's major
strength is his fantastic songwriting skills. The variety of songs is
mindblowing and the depth of his material is staggering.
I'd love to hear your comments - go for it!
Stay cool
