Thanks Alex. The best thing about uni is you get to do more stuff,
but without quite such worry about money, as you at least get a
student loan, and LEA funding etc., as you would with a proper job.
And you get to decide a bit more when you'll work - for instance, my
boyfriend is quite unproductive in the mornings, but will happily
stay up all night studying.
I think I'm going to do a teacher training next year (I think I
said?) so sent off for info today. I think it's something I could
enjoy, and it's not tied so much to any one location (though, with
any job, it does depend where the vacancies are!). So Kieran's gonna
try and get a job, and then re-apply to an exciting new city! But,
home-sick though I am, I doubt it'll be in Scotland. He's still too
much of a Southerner, though he has promised that one day we'll make
our home north of the border!
Good luck for your results, but I've come to realise results don't
matter a bit. I think in our society we put too much emphasis on
results and grades...... Just a pity employers still seem to care!
It's a bit scary here, 'coz all the jobs advertised here are for
people who have Oxford firsts, and even if I had got a first, I'm not
that kind of person. Like my friend said, employers who want you to
have a first from Oxford aren't the kind of people you want to work
for!!!!
Anyway, I'd better go now.
Sorry for rambling.
Love Helen.
