Eid Mubarak! ...and warm greetings from rainy fall in Germany!

The biggest news is that my website has a totally new look thanks to my fantastic graphic designer Jalene Hernandez...and there is a link on the videos page where you can watch the Seattle Channel documentary about me and my students' recital.  There is also a link to my new Etsy Shop.  Please take a look and let me know what you think...the new look is a work in progress and we will be adding more film and making more changes in the near future.

This coming weekend I will be teaching dances from the Logar Valley in Afghanistan in Worms.  There is still room in the workshop if you would like to join.  Following that I will be in Kalamazoo, Michigan for an intensive week of workshops and shows.

My Seattle training project has picked a wonderful repetoire for the coming year.  We will be working on dances from Tunisia, Egypt (Baladi),  Turkey (Roman), Lebanon (Dabke), Azerbaijan, Iran (Gilaki) and Rajasthan.  We still have a few places available if you would like to join the group.  We start work on October 18 & 19th in the beautiful Motion and Rest Studio in Ballard.

I will also be teaching an intensvie introductory workshop to the North Indian classical dance Kathak in Seattle in October.  If you are a bollywood dancer and would like to have a solid foundation this is the place to start!

Next year I will be offering two trips back to back.  First we will go to Armenia to study Armenian and Roma dance.  This trip is organized by Simona Jović from France/Serbia and myself and will be April 21-28th, 2009.  Immediately following will be my annual trip to Turkey.  This year we will be in Istanbul for the festival of Hırdellez on May 5/6...not to be missed...reserve your space now!

Tamalyn Dallal and I had a fantastic time teaching our week-long intensive at the end of August in Seattle.  We had women from all over the world who came...we got so much good feedback about the week that we are considering offering this intensive in other places in the world.  If you would be interested in hosting such an intensive week just contact one of us.

I have a few openings in my schedule this fall for Europe or the East Coast and I am planning 2009...so please contact me if you would like to organize a workshop or performance!!!
