Description
The ecological need to reduce vehicle use implies reducing vehicle manufacturing volume: but most “green car” initiatives erroneously assume the maintenance of current economies of scale, and are thus based on mass-production and the type of legislative regime that both requires mass-production and assures the perpetuation of mass-production.
The purpose of this group is to explore a completely different scenario, in which a far smaller number of vehicles are manufactured, but in a far greater variety by a far greater number of manufacturers; what sort of legislation this would require, what sort of urban form this might entail, what sort of economic system, what implications for anything and everything from gears to agriculture to spirituality.
It is hoped that convergences might be found between all kinds of issues, so that it may be shown that a truly sustainable situation could enable cars that are much more fun, much more open to human creativity, than the overweight, overcomplicated, overregulated products of the state-corporate empire.
