Hello My name is Joyce, I have been looking for a
list for Aspies. I don't think you can join the former
e-groups mailing lists anymore. I used to belong to a
couple and just lurk, then had problems with my ISP and
moved house. I have only just worked out how to post
and use Yahoo as I was used to e-groups.<br>I am
really keen to communicate with Aspies in UK, as I do
not know how to get a diagnosis.<br>How did you go
about it? How would I go about it?<br>I have 3 grown up
daughters too, and was helping one of them with her
childcare course, when I found out about Aspergers. I am
quite sure that I am an Aspie from all I have read on
the Internet.<br>I am in a long term relationship
(was previously married) with Steve, who also believes
that he is an undiagnosed Aspie. <br>We both had
horrendous problems at school, both of us were referred to
psychologists, but Steve's parents would not allow him to see
one, and sent him to a private school instead. The
psychologist I saw could not relate to me at all, he was used
to dealing with "normal" problem teenagers. He could
not understand that I did not watch TV, read about 16
books a week and did not have any interest in popstars
or boyfriends. I was prescribed Valium, to calm me
down, which I did not take after the first week. I left
school soon after, and never saw him again.<br>I have a
new doctor since moving house, who I have not met
yet.<br>I hope this group will become more active<br>Joyce
