Hello everybody!
Thank you, Gaynor, for the kind note you sent me on March 18th.
Well, a REALLY long week because I had been packing my books ready
for storage.
For an Aspie person, packing and sorting things is a really tough
job. I could hear buzzing noises in my ears and I felt very dizzy at
the end of the day. It is awful to be without my maps and Atlases.
I feel really lost without them.
I have packed 23 boxes althogether. 6 will go to my new address and
the rest for long term storage. Like, I don't know when I will ever
be able to access these again. Because I am too ill to work, I
cannot afford a flat anymore. But that is another story.
During the last two weeks I have seen lots of depressing papers about
my awful misunderstandings and problems at work. Now that I have a
better understanding of my communication difficulties, I can see what
was going wrong. But, if I am ever well enough to go back to work, I
have no idea what can be done about it.
By its very nature, great emphasis is made on "communication skills"
in every job description, but how is this resolved if you do not have
adequate equipment to do this? It is like setting out an objective
of "running skills" for someone with paralysis in the legs. I can
communicate OK via computer, but, even then, colleages have remarked
that my e-mails and memos seem "haughty".
I am going to write down all my particular difficulties using the
Roger Meyer list of Asperger's Syndrome Characteristics (see the
lists right at the foot of ....
http://www.isn.net/~jypsy/whataspe.htm
... note it is a VERY long page).
Then I will write down the job description and core competencies
(sic) required for a typical job that the department has advertised
recently and then ask personnel just how do they expect me to meet
all these requirements. It's going to take me a long time to do it
so patience will be required before I get any results on this. I
will keep you all appraised of any developments as and when they
occur.
No word yet from CLASS (a free diagnosis courtesy of Cambridge
University) see ...

... for further details.
I will keep posting my details here from time to time whenever I am
in an internet cafe.
Meanwhile keep well and happy, everybody.
Yours for Aye
Jannie
