Hi David,
First of all, a big THANK YOU! I phoned my priest earlier, and told him
what you said to me, and I told him that I should not be prevented from
attending church because I have AS. At last he listened to me, and maybe
we have now worked something out...

All it means is that a lot of people agree with the way Jesus taught us
to behave with love, kindness, compassion etc., as opposed to anger,
hostility, violence, etc. But they don't feel able to believe in
something which goes beyond our existence here on earth. And so they
don't feel able to believe in God, or in Jesus rising from the dead, for
example.
