Re: [Atheism UK] Moral case for war?

Hi all, bit of a first timer here in this newsgroup.
I think that we do not have a morla argument for war. From my perspective, we
are attempting to liberate the ordinary populace of Iraq. How are we attempting
this? By launching missile salvoes into their capital.
America's current strategy is that of applying superior force on strategic
points. Does anyone think this sounds like a war of attrition? It's the old
addage "We're gonna go over there and teach Johnny Foreigner who's boss". But,
with the Iraqi forces actually fighting back, the British and American forces
were taken by surprise. Members of the British forces currentoy stationed in
Iraq actually said they weren't expecting to fight, just to show up, shout a lot
and have all the enemy raise their hands.
I have some interesting questions for everyone: What would happen to the oil
supplies should Saddam fall? Who would gain control, the puppet government that
would be put in place by the American's? What if the (new) Iraqi government
didn't want to sell oil? I think there may be just a few more reasons for
fighting than the moral obligation we are forced to take.Do you think there is
one?

Larry
