Thanks Mark. Interesting discussion is what its all about. By the way, I think
the law, religion, education, judiciary, politics, celebrity, media, science and
just about everything else, are all equally insane. They all tell us what to
think, believe, what opinions to have, how to live our lives, judge what is good
and bad and so on. Is't that what parents are for? All those structures are
indicators of how weak we are, and how much we need to be told how to live and
behave. Neitsche was right. We can become much more than what we currently
think, but it is not in the interests of the law, religion, education to have
people who don't need them. They are self-perpetuating systems which we give
authority to for their very existence. Imagine.

Sorry I have to disagree Paul - I believe we all should have the "right" to
ridcule someone else's beliefs, ridicule is a test of belief - if it stands the
test of ridicule then maybe it has some substance - if not then it deserves all
the ridicule it gets.
Also if no one can say what is right or wrong where does that put the law? and
the judicary?
My main gripe with religion is that it sets itself up as the worlds advisor on
moral and ethical issues - to them no non-believer can be right about what is
moral or what is not. I know moral guidelines can be set and ahered to, without
having to be subject to so called wisdom from "Holy" books perporting to be the
word of god. To quote Plato "And what is good, And what is not good - Need we
ask anyone to tell us these things?"
End of rant - could go on but will save somethings for another day.

Religion has no basis in reality? How do you know? Are you the ultimate
arbiter in Reality? Religion means everything to some people, and, whether I
like it or not, it IS their reality, and neither I nor anyone else has the right
to say that is right or wrong. We can have an opinion, that's fair enough, but
we do not have the right to ridicule someone else's beliefs, nomatter how weird
we may think they are. Tolerance is the key to any civilised society, whether
group size or nation size, not ridicule, because sooner or later, some bastard
like Stalin or Himmler will come along and convince everyone they have the
answers, and then the executions begin, all over again. It is depressing to see
the moronity of human beings conducting their affairs like spoiled children, but
it happens again and again. The biggest obstacle to human advancement is belief
itself, not religion - people believe in this or that, and then begin to kill
each other in the name of whatever crap they
have dreamed up. Communism is in this sense exactly the same as Hinduism or
Islam or Christianity. You don't have to have a god at the centrre of your
philosophy to send millions of people to their deaths. To finish. If you don't
like anyone to come and give their point of view without calling them merely a
distraction, then I'll fuck off now and leave you alone with your thoughts.
