RE: [Atheism UK] Anti-atheist sites.

Well chaps, if you want to go head to head with an irrational believer feel
free. I dont deny what I am, I simply just dont bother anymore. I dont think
that I have ever converted anyone. My realization of atheism was not induced by
someone I met. It was in me. I searched out truth and found it abundance. The
ones who do accept atheism as a fact as some kind of conversion (almost anyway)
are not the problem anyway. Its the extreme believers who are the problem. These
are the one who try to influence the public debate, legislation and politics.
The ones who dictate how we should live our individual lives. the ones who
cherry pick from the bible, choosing to hate homosexuals but ignore infanticide,
matricide, incest etc.. all noted as acceptable in the bible. Oh and genocide!
Not forgetting the mutilation of children's genitals which goes as we speak

These you will never convert. I can debate very well but just find it a waste
of time. And to be honest I am sick of crushing friends and dinner guests under
the weight of my argument and sheer force of character. I have in my time
embarrassed good people and destroyed there hope in my desire to show them the
truth. Some people just don't want to know and that is fine. I have no rights
over them as they have none over me.

I do of course get annoyed at the level of religious comment in the press but we
do live in a fairly secular society so I am quite content that I can be me, and
you can be you and usually with impunity.

Anyway.

Have fun with the God Squad

Greetings ,I have always made my atheism clear to the faithful, not to have a
full blown discussion, as at the time the faithful will never concede to reason.
However I do feel that months or years to come the person ( faithful) may have
an event happen in their lives or just start thinking rationally, and the
coments I made to these people may help them question their religious beliefs.
That is exactly how I realised there could not be a god. I was never that
religeous & certainly was not a church goer, basically brought up as a
christian, & I did think there may be something in it. Over time, with a few
events, discussions and some reading, I realised in in my own time that it was
all bollocks. So in effect had atheists not discussed their lack of belief to me,
I may well ('god forbid' ( haha )) still have those beliefs and certainly would
not have been curious or interested enough to question myself .WarwickPeter
