Red Bus Services

This is now Version 3 dated 20 November 2006 although it still carries the Sep 2005 date on the front.

Melbourne from Craig Halsall.

Sita - Route 401 - No new timetable seen

A media release was issued by the Victoria Government on 23 June advising that Route 401 now commences at 06:45 rather than 07:00, to cater for hospital shifts starting at 7am. Its assumed the improvement started from this date. The media release suggests this means 5 extra services, which would indicate the 3 minute frequency commences at 6:45am. No new DL flyer has been reported yet.

More details on the various changes in the inner and middle western suburbs that commence on June 30:

Westrans Altona - Route 414 (Laverton - Footscray)

Route 414 is being changed to replace the current section of Route 409 between Footscray and Roberts Street. From Robert St & Geelong Road, services towards Footscray will now run via Robert St, Sunshine Rd, Buckley St, Nicholson St, Irving St, Leads St terminating in Paisley St. From Footscray the service will run via Albert St, Buckley St and then the reverse of the above route.

There is a minor time change to the Laverton Station time on the Saturday timetable from Footscray.

Westrans Altona - Route 415 (Laverton - Williamstown)

Minor time changes for intermediatry points to allow for a route deviation to pass the Port Phillip Retirement Village in Altona, which is to be served by the majority of services.

Sita - Routes 429 & 430

Replaced by new Routes 431 and 432 (and therefore can be deleted from the list)

Sita - Route 431 (Yarraville - Kingsville)

New service replacing the majority of the current 430, inculding introducing two way operation along much of the route.

From Yarraville it runs along Canterbury St, Fehon St, Anderson St, Severn St, Somerville Road, Roberts St, Kidman St, Stanger St, Adeney St, Roberts St, Francis St, Freame St, Drew St back to Robert St. Then via Roberts St, Adeney St and basically the reverse back to Yarraville.

Buses will every 30 mins on weekdays until 7pm and on Saturdays until 6pm.

Sita - Route 432 (Yarraville - Newport)

Routes 429 and 432 and part of 430 are being merged to create a new route from Yarraville to Newport via Altona Gate Shopping Centre.

From Yarraville it runs along Canterbury St, Fehon St, Anderson St, Severn St, Benbow St, Wembley Av, Fogarty St, The Avenue, Stephenson St, Montgomery Cr, Vernon St, Brunel St, Saltley St, Alhoa St, Stephenson St, Blackshaws Rd, Kyle Rd, Marigold Av, Duosa Rd, Chambers Rd, McArthurs Rd, Millers Rd, Mason St, McIntosh Rd, The Circle, The Broadway, Hansen St, Blenheim St, Woods St, Maddox St, Jubilee St, Chalis St, Woods St, Jack St, Mason St to Newport Staton. Trips to Yarrvaille run the reverse.

Buses will run at 20 or 30 min intervals on weekdays until 9pm, and every 45 minutes on weekends until 9pm.

Sita - Route 472 (Moonee Ponds - Williamstown)

Route 472 is being altered in Footscray to run along Geelong Road, Victoria Street and Paisley Street rather than Buckley Street and Victoria Street. This will replace the current section of Route 414 between West Footscray and Footscray. These changes will also mean the route will avoid Victoria Street rail bridge, which only has a 2.9m clearance, therefore finally allowing low floor buses to finally operate on this route.
