Too long without any ballboy news/podcasts/anything!   Message List

As I always like to bring something for the kids when making a post
and haven't been playing the guitar enough recently to bother with a
tab, here's a link to something I made back at uni about 5/6 years
ago when i first got hold of Cool Edit Pro. Basically it's a load of
ballboy songs mixed together with common lyrics e.g. a switch might
go "Drunk on the floor of the pub again and who knows what we are
fighting/for a cause that was spent and I lost all my friends to a
lack of commitment and/you and I will take a grand theatre trip and
we'll get dressed up in our best clothes and try to make some sense
etc." While not demonstrating any hidden musical talent, it does
show the frankly scary amount of free time I had at uni (kids!
study!) and a worrying knowledge of ballboy lyrics. So go here if
you want some barely passable ballboy related entertainment:
www.megaupload.com/?d=4FBF9RJW.htm

What inspired it at the time was a truly superb winner of a
competition for this sort of thing (but with different artists),
which I would genuinely recommend downloading here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LAGV3UT0
This isn't mine, but I can't find where I got it so I can't really
credit whoever did it. Prizes for knowing all the songs.
Embarasssment when you start singing along to a song and do the
lyrics from this e.g. "My name is Prince and I am/funky cold medina"

Anyway, that's the user interactive content done, time to start
pestering Gordon:)
i) Podcasts! There's loads of new songs to do acoustically, and
they're all that get me through the day at work.
ii) On the last podcast, lots of exciting things. A possible live
album! A new Money Can't Buy Music album completely finished! Me
being mentioned! A new ballboy album! I went backpacking round the
world for 9 months, got back just in time for indietracks (and two
weddings) and the ballboy album was juuuuuust coming out. We demand
releases! Or at least a download of a full version of "I wrote this
song on garageband".
iii) Thanks Gordon for the CD signings. I was the loon getting 4
signed at indietracks (incidentally, the 2 marrying couples really
appreciated it, my American friend who I originally met through a
shared love of ballboy predictably loved it and so did I - though
still hoping for a release of hangover song and some of the podcasts
songs as single b-sides, or an EP would be nice. Go on you could
stick T-in-the-park out there, steal the orginal version of Palaces
and Prisons, not such a fan of the album version, and Sunday League
say. Done your work for you right there. Wait are we still in that
bracket. Yep. Wow, great bracket.), which was a great festival if
anyone didn't go and is thinking about going next year. Los
Campesinos were ace, as were The Wave Pictures and lots of other
bands who I ended up drinking with in the tent. Genuinely lovely
atmosphere as well.
iv) Did anyone see Midsummer? Really wanted to go, but couldn't make
it up from Oxford. Reviews etc? Any audio/video?
Right, I think that a long enough essay, maybe we can get some
movement on the ballboy boards, which have been far too quiet of
late. Take care everyone.
Steve-0 (like the 70's rocker, not the robot).
