i'll be at indietracks! Hope to see you all again! I'm doing the Indietracks podcasts, so let me know if you want to do one of those cheesy vox pops about indietracks being the best thing since lightsabers or something...

I think there is a good chance that the film will make it to DVD at some point soon.
And I am going to Indietracks! I've just booked my train ticket and have spent the morning making up CDrs to take to sell. It is all very exciting.
See you there,

Hi
Just a quick reminder about some ballboy that are coming up.
First on Friday 15th May they will be playing at Tigerfest in Dunfermline along
with audrey sings nico and Saint Jude's Infirmary.
Gordon will be playing a solo show in Sacremento on Wednesday 20th May at the
Blue Lamp. The rest of the line-up for the night is as follows: Oh No Oh My,
Pelle Carlberg, and Silver Planes.
Finally the whole band will be playing at the San Francisco Popfest at Annie's
Social Club on Friday May 22nd. Also playing that night are The Hot Toddies, The
Tartans, The Orange Peels, Springfactory and Bunnygrunt.
While we in San Francisco (14th May - 26th May) the ballboy shop will be closed
I'm afraid. Any orders received during this time will be sent out upon our
return. Apologies in advance for any delays!
See you soon perhaps!

Hello,
I was looking at the ballboy lastFM page this evening and it told me ballboy are
tour. It was a little surprising because as far as I know ballboy are not
currently on tour.
However LastFM is right, there are quite a few shows coming up:
April 16th - Gordon will play a solo show at Oran Mor, Glasgow
May 15th - Tigerfest - Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline
May 22nd - San Francisco Popfest - Annie's Social Club (917 Folsom St. @ 5th.
St. San
Francisco, CA 94107)
July 12th - Another screening of the documentary "Trying not to f**k it up" at
the Roxy Bar & Screen London Bridge SE1. Gordon will also play an acoustic show.
26th July - Gordon will play a solo show at the Indietracks Festival in
Derbyshire
When you look it like that maybe ballboy are on a slightly random tour of the UK
with San Francisco in the middle and lots of stops for working and doing normal
things in between.
Hope all is well with you,
Take Care
Rachel

As I always like to bring something for the kids when making a post
and haven't been playing the guitar enough recently to bother with a
tab, here's a link to something I made back at uni about 5/6 years
ago when i first got hold of Cool Edit Pro. Basically it's a load of
ballboy songs mixed together with common lyrics e.g. a switch might
go "Drunk on the floor of the pub again and who knows what we are
fighting/for a cause that was spent and I lost all my friends to a
lack of commitment and/you and I will take a grand theatre trip and
we'll get dressed up in our best clothes and try to make some sense
etc." While not demonstrating any hidden musical talent, it does
show the frankly scary amount of free time I had at uni (kids!
study!) and a worrying knowledge of ballboy lyrics. So go here if
you want some barely passable ballboy related entertainment:
www.megaupload.com/?d=4FBF9RJW.htm
What inspired it at the time was a truly superb winner of a
competition for this sort of thing (but with different artists),
which I would genuinely recommend downloading here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LAGV3UT0
This isn't mine, but I can't find where I got it so I can't really
credit whoever did it. Prizes for knowing all the songs.
Embarasssment when you start singing along to a song and do the
lyrics from this e.g. "My name is Prince and I am/funky cold medina"

Anyway, that's the user interactive content done, time to start
pestering Gordon:)
i) Podcasts! There's loads of new songs to do acoustically, and
they're all that get me through the day at work.
ii) On the last podcast, lots of exciting things. A possible live
album! A new Money Can't Buy Music album completely finished! Me
being mentioned! A new ballboy album! I went backpacking round the
world for 9 months, got back just in time for indietracks (and two
weddings) and the ballboy album was juuuuuust coming out. We demand
releases! Or at least a download of a full version of "I wrote this
song on garageband".
iii) Thanks Gordon for the CD signings. I was the loon getting 4
signed at indietracks (incidentally, the 2 marrying couples really
appreciated it, my American friend who I originally met through a
shared love of ballboy predictably loved it and so did I - though
still hoping for a release of hangover song and some of the podcasts
songs as single b-sides, or an EP would be nice. Go on you could
stick T-in-the-park out there, steal the orginal version of Palaces
and Prisons, not such a fan of the album version, and Sunday League
say. Done your work for you right there. Wait are we still in that
bracket. Yep. Wow, great bracket.), which was a great festival if
anyone didn't go and is thinking about going next year. Los
Campesinos were ace, as were The Wave Pictures and lots of other
bands who I ended up drinking with in the tent. Genuinely lovely
atmosphere as well.
iv) Did anyone see Midsummer? Really wanted to go, but couldn't make
it up from Oxford. Reviews etc? Any audio/video?
Right, I think that a long enough essay, maybe we can get some
movement on the ballboy boards, which have been far too quiet of
late. Take care everyone.
Steve-0 (like the 70's rocker, not the robot).
Hello,
A couple of ballboy newsy things for you:
First of all a reminder that Gordon will be playing a solo show at The
Caves in Edinburgh this Saturday as part of the Gimme Shelter Festival
which has been organised to raise awareness for the charity ‘Shelter’.
Tickets are £7 and are available from Ripping Records and Ticket
Scotland.
Secondly Christmas is just around the corner (I know because they have
been selling Christmas stuff in the Co-Op for the last 6 months) so it
is time for the ballboy Christmas Party! This year it will be on 21st
December in Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh and we are very excited
because The Amazing Bobby McGees
(http://www.myspace.com/thebobbymcgees) will be playing.
Hope things are well in your world wherever that may be.
Take Care
Rachel
* They might tell you that they are just called The Bobby McGees but
that is only because they are too modest!
PS If anyone is interested Gordon features the new album by my band
The Local Heroes/Blackberry Wine called “Museums For Memoriesâ€. He
tells the story on the track called “Lucy†and the album can be bought
from Series Two Records here:
http://www.indiepages.com/seriestwo/store.html
Hi,
Just a quick note to tell you about a couple of shows that are coming
up. They are as follows:
Oct 30th Gordon Acoustic Show, The Traverse Theatre Bar 9.30 following
the performance of Midsummer
Oct 31st Fence Collective Halloween Party - Anstruther
Nov 19th The Caves, Edinburgh
Nov 20th Oran Mor Glasgow
Nov 29th Gordon Acoustic show for Gimme Shelter, The Caves, Edinburgh
Any other details will be posted on the ballboy website as and when we
have them.
Bye for now,
Rachel
Hi,
Gordon has co-written the play, Midsummer, with David Greig who is one
of Britain's finest playwrights. The show features original songs and
music written for the show by Gordon alongside a sneaky appearance
from two ballboy songs - There are only inches between us, but there
might as well be mountains and trees and Above the clouds the sun is
always shining (instrumental version).
The show opens at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh on Friday 24th of
October and runs through to Saturday the 15th of November.
Tickets and more information are available here:
http://www.traverse.co.uk/show_detail.php?id=554
Hope you're well,
Rachel

Can we purchase the CD in advance of 8/25? Very excited to hear the
new album, and hope for a New York gig later this year!

Hello!
We are all back home and wearing clean clothes after a two week world
tour of the UK (you try telling Gordon that he hasn't toured the
world). Thanks to everyone who came along to the shows, or organised
the shows and thanks to all the support bands. It was a great two
weeks and we met some lovely people.
The count down to the launch of the new album begins now! The album is
called "I worked on the ships" contains 11 songs and will be released
on 25th August on "Pony Proof Records" which is the band's newly
created record label. For those of you who can't wait that long you
can hear two of the songs on our MySpace page now:

Finally, Gordon will be playing a solo show at the 13th note in
Glasgow this Saturday (16th August). Door are from 8.30pm and it will
cost £5 to get in with all proceeds going to charity.
I think that's all for now. Look out for pictures from the tour and
new merchandise on the website soon (well soonish anyway).
Hope all is well wherever you are,
Take Care

ballboy I Worked On the Ships (CD, £10.95) due 11-08-2008
Over the last 7 years Edinburgh's BALLBOY have released 4 albums and numerous
singles.
The band's dry wit and imaginative story telling combined with the use of strong
bold images
and a depth of emotion poured into each song, have gained them a devoted fan
following,
not least of whom was the late John Peel, who invited the band to record
sessions for the
show five times. Over the years the band have had 11 tracks featured in his
legendary Festive
Fifty. BALLBOY recorded "I worked on the ships", in a cottage in the Scottish
Borders. The idea
was to move out of a standard studio environment and work on the recording of
the songs in
a new way. In some vague and not very important conceptual way the lyrics and
sounds are
related to boats - hence the album title. The album was produced by Gordon and
enhanced
by the addition of electronic orchestration and other bleeps and blops.
"McIntyre's forte is
mining that particularly Scottish brand of gallows whimsy, depositing lyrical
barbs, half-
spoken, half-sung, in a musical landscape" - The Scotsman
