The diverter between the bath and shower has gone.

It feels like it's a type of washer inside the tap body - but Dave
Welsh (an experienced Barbican Plumber) didn't seem too hopeful about
a repair as he says that the part is unavailable.

Any experience on how to fix this - or any taps in the salvage store
which could yield a replacement part?
