Hi Clyde
I moved from loch lomond to largs yacht haven last summer. I must say you will not be disapointed the facilities are great and there is so much to do. we liked it so much we bought a bigger boat (bayliner 285). I like you was a bit intimidated by the sea but just take it easy to start (millport, Kilchatan Bay, Rothsay)
Millport is probably best to start with - you can moor up for free on the black bouys opposite the pier.
what boat have you got anyway.
there is a good website whicjh I will forward to you later which tells you where you can go
regards
Alan

I've just moved from Loch Lomond down to Largs Haven and was looking
for some local knowledge before I take to the foam.
I know it seems strange that I dont know where to go on this extensive
stretch of coastline, but I'm having to paddle before I swim. (never
had boat in sea before!!)
Cheers,
Clyde.
