this year bought my first boat a 1990 bayliner 2052?? 20 ft. with
the omc cobra 2.5(either that or 2.3). The boat was in absollute
mint condition and could eat off the engine it was so clean.
Well now I am completely obsessed the best money I ever spent. It
got me thru the season and will probably have her for a few more.
She is running a little rough a backfire now and then but I just
changed the fuel filter and don't know when oil and tune up was done
last sooooo... I'll get that done when I winterize. made most of
the stupid mistakes including pulling boat out without engine
trimmed up... no major damage thank god just bent the skeg a tiny
tiny bit but I'll get that taken care of. just want to meet people
who have same or similiar boats to bounce questions / experiences
with.. for instance I am a beginner and my prop shows it ;) (so glad
i started with this boat rather than the cruiser I originally looked
at). So I am now lookin for a new prop just wonderin peoples
experiences with different props. I got max speed of just under 30
mph with a 13.75 x 15 pitch... that was with the rpms just below
red. however that prop got me on plane almost instantly. I am
thinkin about stepping it up to a 17 pitch but am worried about
planing. I am inexperienced so not sure if it will impact it that
badly. Well hello to everyone who reads this though! I am shedding
a tear when I think of putting her up for like 6 months (live in
rochester, ny).
